The Melioidosis Database (MDB) is an integrated database containing the genomic and proteomic information of the complete Burkholderia pseudomallei strains, the causative agent of melioidosis. The objective of this database is to provide a resource for the research community to perform varied searches against B. pseudomallei strains. The database has the inbuilt tools like BLAST, DNA motif search and the graphics based plugins to visualize the genome of B. pseudomallei strains and the Protein Data Bank (PDB) structures of B. pseudomallei proteins. In addition, the database contributes the users to browse all annotations using either the simple or advanced Boolean based search tools. The database covers the significant points on genome plasticity, virulence factors, pathogenic mechanism and laboratory diagnosis of B. pseudomallei and clinical description, epidemiology of melioidosis. A superior understanding of the genes responsible for virulence in these strains can aid researchers determine immunogen targets and drug candidates for melioidosis.
