EDB - Ebola Database

  About

The Ebola Database (EDB) is a unified database that contains the genomic and proteomic information of all known types Ebola viruses. The objective of the present database is to manage the single point resource for the research community. This would help execute varied searches. The database has inbuilt tools such as BLAST, DNA motif search, and the graphics based plugin, namely GBrowse and Jmol to visualize the genome and Protein Data Bank (PDB) structures of Ebola virus respectively. In addition, the database enables the users to browse all annotations using either the simple or the advanced Boolean based search tools. The database covers salient points on general characteristics, virulent proteins, reservoirs, pathogenic mechanism, laboratory diagnosis, epidemiology and treatment for Ebola virus disease. A better understanding of the genes responsible for virulence can aid researchers to determine immunogen targets and drug candidates.
